With an annual output value exceeding 900 million RMB, the edible mushroom industry is experiencing robust growth

In recent years, relying on its superior natural ecological advantages, Daozhen Autonomous County in Guizhou Province has introduced and cultivated one national-level and one provincial-level leading edible fungi enterprise respectively. It has driven the high-quality development of the edible fungi industry across the county and strived to build the industrial brand of “Southwest Mushroom Capital · Daozhen Fungi”. In 2025, the number of fungus sticks put into use in the county exceeded 200 million, with an output value of over 900 million yuan.

Back in 2016, Daozhen Autonomous County attracted Fujian businessman Zhang Hegui to register and establish Guizhou Guiwang Biotechnology Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of nearly 230 million yuan. The company built a factory dedicated to the industrialized cultivation of edible fungi, and strived to become a leading agricultural industrialization enterprise integrating edible fungi strain research and development, cultivation, sales, as well as processing of edible fungi raw materials and bio-organic fertilizers.

Up to now, the company has invested a total of over 1.5 billion yuan. Its first factory covers an area of more than 17.3 hectares, with a daily output of over 150 tons of king oyster mushrooms. The second factory covers an area of more than 33.3 hectares, with a daily output of over 350 tons of velvet shank mushrooms and more than 60 tons of cordyceps flowers. These two major products account for 15% to 30% of the national market, with an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan. Its products are sold across the country and exported to Southeast Asia.

Guizhou Tonghui Edible Fungi Development Co., Ltd. has adopted the “company + cooperative + base + farmer” model to drive the people of the county to develop the shiitake mushroom industry according to local conditions.

At present, the company has 3 shiitake mushroom production lines, driving the county to build 10 edible fungi industrial parks, 27 mushroom farms, and more than 2,600 standard greenhouses, and set up 85 specialized edible fungi cooperatives. It produces 60 million shiitake fungus sticks and 60 million kilograms of fresh shiitake mushrooms annually. The products are sold to 23 provinces (municipalities) across the country, radiating and driving more than 15,000 people in 14 townships (towns) of the county to engage in the edible fungi cultivation industry.
